Abstract :
The positive experience of fabrication of low-loss high frequency acoustic materials on the basis of yttrium-rare earth garnet solid solutions allowed us to extend the range of non-traditional materials for these purposes. One of the most interesting materials is the yttrium-aluminum borate (YAB) monocrystal YAl3(BO3)4. This material has a low attenuation level for longitudinal waves (about 0.7 dB/(μS·GHz)) and there is a possibility to synthesize solid solutions. The replacement of Y ions by rare earth R ions leads to decrease of acoustic wave (AW) absorption
