Abstract :
We present a novel analytical model to characterize the nonlinear impairments in dispersion-managed amplitude-modulated dense wavelength-division-multiplexing systems. Though this top-down approach is less accurate than numerical simulations, it enables the definition of general rules for the design of transmission lines, which are modulation format and bit-rate independent.
