Abstract
A magnetic field induced agglomeration of magnetic particles in magnetic fluids (mineral oil and kerosene based) with several volume concentrations was studied by means of optical microscope equipped with a video camera. Scrutiny of the video revealed that time evolution of the aggregation process results from two processes i.e. (i) the formation of new (or primary) agglomerations (t/spl les/2s) and (ii) the coalescence of primary agglomerations (t>2s).
