Abstract :
Mobile multimedia will be achieved by three technical evolutions: convergence to Internet, wider bandwidth, and mobile-oriented security. The i-mode service is achieved by the first evolution; it is Internet compatible in the sense that its protocol is http compatible and that its markup language is HTML compatible. A music distribution service named MMD is realized by the second and the third evolution. In the near future, the first and the third evolutions will be integrated and will proceed to a fully IP based mobile network, which targets real-time applications such as VoIP. However, the current IP technologies do not meet the requirements of these applications, such as latency and packet loss. Therefore, IP technologies including IP mobility must be improved
