Abstract :
This paper presents a method for on-the fly snakes construction from video input. The algorithm is intended to be used as a site model construction tool dedicated to ribbon-like structures. Our approach uses a greedy optimization algorithm and combines snake propagation/optimization and video mosaicking. This approach offers many advantages, notable among which are: (a) exploiting the intentional motion of the camera platform, and (b) handling video streams on the fly thereby facilitating subsequent processing tasks (coding, interpretation, etc.). The method is able to handle propagations at intersections. The algorithm is demonstrated for automatic road delineation on video sequences acquired from unmanned airborne vehicles (UAVs)
