Abstract :
A model is developed to calculate the interactions and effects of continuing hemorrhage or hemodilution during surgery and transfusion, and utilizes the distinction between different types of fluids used, and their differential clinical effects as well as taking into account complex compensatory mechanisms such as Starling´s transcapillary refill. The basic prerequisite for preserving tissue oxygenation during hemodilution is adequate oxygen delivery and therefore all determinants of oxygen transport should be monitored
