Abstract :
This paper introduces a new concept of coplanar patch antenna (CPA), which consists of a bow-tie shaped patch surrounded by closely spaced ground conductor and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed line. This novel configuration is proposed for use as an element of a phased array antenna specifically designed for radar systems. The main design goal is to devise a patch antenna that operates at 10 GHz with 50 Ω input impedance, having wideband characteristics. Simulation results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.
