Abstract
The frequency response of self-similar waveguiding structures exhibits sharp transmission peaks inside high-attenuation frequency-bands. We take advantage of this property for designing selective a microwave filter in metallic waveguide technology and in planar technology. The similarity dimension, the lacunarity and the stage of growth of such self-similar structures are used as key design parameters. Experimental results confirm the predicted frequency responses of self-similar planar waveguides.
