Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between the radiation properties of right triangular microstrip antennas (RTMA) and their corresponding rectangular microstrip antennas (RMA). A cavity model based model expansion technique has been used to obtain radiation patterns, quality factor, bandwidth, directivity and radiation efficiency of these antennas and results are presented in graphical form and tabular forms. A comparison between the radiation properties indicates that RTMA structures are more directive in nature than RMA structures but their radiation efficiency and bandwidth are poorer than that of RMA structures. Based on the outcomes of this analysis it may be suggested that RTMA structures can also be used similarly to RMA structures in array applications.
