Abstract
Summary form only received as follows: The effect of perfusion quality of cardiopulmonary bypass system on the early results in open heart surgery was evaluated by randomized prospective study. Mean arterial pressure (MAP), pH, partial carbon dioxide pressure (pCO2), blood gases, potassium (K+), fluid balance, urea and activated coagulation time (ACT) were evaluated before initiating the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), at the beginning of CPB, at cross clamping (Xcl), at the release of Xcl and after the termination of cardiopulmonary by-pass on 100 patients. Evaluated data were compared with normal values to score the performance of perfusion. 90 patients (90%) had high and 10 had moderate quality of perfusion according to our evaluation. There was no mortality in both groups.4 patients (4.4%) in high quality perfusion group and 7 patients (70%) in moderate quality perfusion group developed low cardiac output syndrome during early postoperative period.
