Abstract :
A procedure is presented for investigating the optimal shape of electrodes and dielectrics. It is based on the 3-D calculation of electrostatic fields. The mathematical model, treatment of singular cases, and optimization procedure are described. The program is used for the numerical field calculation and optimization of a disconnecting element in SF/sub 6/-gas-insulated equipment.
