Abstract
Vehicle electronic systems and roadside equipment are the two important foundations for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). From the data exchange and scheduling points of view, we look at the development trend of ITS and applications of pervasive computing infrastructures. The use of spontaneous networking (SN) as an appropriate infrastructure is presented and analyzed in detail. Finally, several SN research projects including ours are described briefly.
