Book review: A Seamless Robe: Broadcasting - Philosophy and Practice

Charles Curran´s untimely death robbed Europe of one of its most experienced managers of broadcasting. Given that broadcasting policies are made by politicians, usually unaware of their full implications and advised by committees consisting of members with very different outlooks, such direct experience and the capacity to describe and to analyse it are essential ingredients in effective public debate. Moreover, Curran, who was particularly interested in his work with the European Broadcasting Union, had the right kind of international perspective. ´A seamless robe´ was intended to be a serious contribution both to the philosophy and archives of broadcasting. It remains so, though now, alas, it is a personal testament as well.
