Abstract
Multi-section-DFB lasers can be designed for several signal processing functions. Digital switching for decision as well as clock recovery up to ultra high speed has been demonstrated. Schemes, fabrication and functionalities of these devices are presented in this paper. Multi-section DFB lasers are very promising for high speed signal processing in future all-optical networks.
