Abstract :
We have shown that diffraction compensation can be achieved in a free-space packaging of thin-film filters by utilizing the filter curvature that is a natural consequence of the athermal design of the filters. The method also reduces the sensitivity of the optical alignment. This method can be utilized in the design of wavelength add/drop modules for small package size, high reliability, and low cost.
