Abstract
We have demonstrated an add-drop multiplexer based on a novel half-cycle non-uniform fused compact coupler. Symmetric operation was experimentally verified. Non-destructive coupler characterization shows the extended slightly coupled region where the grating is written. When optimized the spectral performance of this 3 cm long device is similar to that of a device based on a 1 m long uniform half-cycle coupler.
