Abstract :
The adaptive sectorized systems have been adopted to increase the system capacity by balancing traffic in a cell. It is necessary to know exactly the traffic of each narrow beam for operating the adaptive sectorized system effectively. However, it is extremely difficult to estimate traffic from the RF signal due to power control error, multipath fading, interference, noise and so on. In this paper, we have proposed a simple and practical method to optimize the sector configurations using only 3-sector traffic data which are collected easily from the BSM (base station manager). As simulation results, the proposed method is effective to achieve adaptive sectorization of a cell in nonuniform traffic.
