Abstract
In this paper the impact of nonlinear devices on the symbol error rate (SER) in OFDM transmission is investigated. It is shown that conventional analysis (Gaussian distribution of the distortion terms) fails to give accurate results in the lower probability region. A new approach is presented providing real upper bounds on the assumption that the OFDM signal can be modeled as a stationary Gaussian random process.
