Application requirements for ASDs in the pulp and paper industry

The pulp and paper industry relies heavily on electric motors fed from adjustable speed drives (ASDs) to supply rotational power throughout various production processes. A wide range of performance demands are required of the ASDs, to meet product quality requirements and to optimize the efficiency of the paper making process. Intense global competition and the resulting financial consequences have affected trends in machinery designs, as well as maintenance practices and ultimately the expectations users have on ASD equipment.
