Abstract :
Based on the physical laws of plasma discharge, a simplified but accurate model that can easily be implemented in PSpice is presented. This model does not require data from lamp manufacturers. Its parameters can be determined from external measurements of the lamps under operation. The HID lamp model has been tested in a 50 W mercury HID lamp and compared with measurements. Experimental results have confirmed that the model is accurate for both low and high frequency operation.
