Abstract
In August 2001, the IEEE Standards Board approved a project to develop a "Standard for the Quantification of Emission Credits for Electrical Industry Processes". The project is sponsored by the IEEE Energy Development & Power Generation Committee and will be developed by the Working Group on Implementing Technology to Limit Climate Change. The presenter is secretary and acting chair of this working group. The approved scope and purpose; the milestones schedule and some key issues of the Standard project were presented at the IEEE 2002 Winter Power Meeting (WM2002) in New York. One milestone in developing the Standard is to have a draft "straw man" document available for presentation and discussion at the 2002 Summer Power Meeting (SM2002) in Chicago. This presentation provides an overview of the draft Standard highlighting some of the main features. The draft outline and key messages for the Standard are provided in recommended IEEE-SA format to provide a glimpse of how the Standard is developing.
