Abstract :
Reducing the order of interconnects (large passive linear RLC circuits) has been actively researched for a number of years. The main thrust has been to find reduced-order pole-residue transfer functions that exhibit the same stability and passivity as the interconnect circuits. However, the practical implementation of macromodels that obey these transfer functions has received relatively little attention. We present simple reduced-order macromodels that can be used in circuit simulation. The order-reduction method used here is PRIMA (passive reduced-order interconnect macromodeling algorithm), but the macromodels are applicable with other similar methods.
