Abstract
Resource allocation strategies of the TDD component of UMTS have not been defined by 3GPP specifications. Therefore, there is a need to investigate the effects of different schemes on network capacity. This paper shows the results of simulating the behaviour of a TDD network with two different resource management schemes. These indicate that if all nodes B follow the same allocation procedure capacity is greater than if allocation strategy is independent from cell to cell.
