Abstract
In this paper, we proposed a new timing control mechanism to support USTS (uplink synchronous transmission scheme), and analyzed performance by computer simulation. The proposed mechanism satisfies the requirements of UE transmission timing update of the W-CDMA system in 3GPP. Also, we added a stay state to the timing control step for increasing USTS performance. According to the simulation results, the proposed mechanism shows better performance than any other mechanisms including the conventional mechanism.
