Abstract
A modular LMMSE receiver for the 3GPP WCDMA FDD shortcode option is presented. The LMMSE receiver is implemented with a separate signal processing module placed in front of a conventional detector. The structure, algorithms, numerical aspects, complexity and the performance of the receiver are studied. In performance simulations conforming to 3GPP Rel´99 physical layer specifications the receiver is found to provide a 0.5 - 1 dB gain over the conventional detector in the studied cases.
