Abstract :
With the application of the low voltage power network as a medium for signal communication, data transmission and information exchange can be realized with low cost and without changing of the existing infrastructure. Fully understanding of. the characteristics for such kind of communication channel is important in designing satisfactory low voltage power network communication systems. Experiments are made in this paper to investigate the electrical characteristics of the low voltage power network used as high frequency communication channel including the input impedance and signal attenuation as well as the noise characteristics. Based on the experimental results, a model of the low voltage power network used as a high frequency communication channel is proposed. The developed model provides a practical and efficient platform for exploring and designing low voltage power network based communication systems.
