Abstract
It is shown how the spread-spectrum concept enters the terrestrial mobile communication in a very natural way. Responsible for that is the connection between a robust communication system and a direct-sequence spread-spectrum system. The suitability of spread-spectrum systems for future terrestrial mobile communication systems is shown. The benefits are listed and applied to future needs for communication systems.
