Abstract :
Two-dimensional code acquisition under dynamic channel conditions is studied. The theory used for conventional (delay-domain) code acquisition in fading, channels is extended here for cases where the search proceeds in both delay and angular domains. Two basic cases are considered, namely slow-fading, and fast-fading channels. Performance in static channels is used as a reference. It is found that, in general, acquisition performance tends to deteriorate in a fading channel. As compared with acquisition in static channels, two-dimensional acquisition performance in fast-fading channels is of about the same order as in static channels. Depending on the number of angular cells and signal-to-noise ratio, the performance could he slightly better or worse than the reference case. In the case of slow-fading channels, it is found that the performance of two-dimensional code acquisition is significantly degraded.
