Abstract :
Despite the ever-increasing performance of digital processors, human-like flexible information processing is not quite possible yet. We have been developing a psychologically-inspired VLSI system in which the vast quantity of past experience is stored in the on-chip memory and the most relevant event is recalled automatically in an immediate response to the input by hardware parallel processing. The application of the system to robust image recognition is demonstrated as illustrative examples of human-like soft computing.
