Abstract :
To control a larger number of aircraft in an en route sector or on an airport surface, a new system configuration referred to as 1 Voice 3 Data (1V3D) has been added to the Very High Frequency (VHF) Digital Link (VDL) Mode 3 subnetwork. This new system configuration supports addressed voice and data communications for up to 240 aircraft in one user group per 25 kHz channel. This paper presents the modeling and simulation results for the 1V3D configuration and compares these results with the 2 Voice 2 Data (2V2D) system configuration in the en route domain.
