Abstract :
Presented here are the initial stages in an effort to create an anatomically based model of the human digestive system from a bioelectrical perspective. The activation of the smooth muscle in the walls of the gastrointestinal tract gives rise to electrical and magnetic fields at the torso surface that can be measured experimentally. The model presented here has been designed with the goal of accurately reproducing these fields. Initial computational meshes are created using digitized data from visible human image slices.
