Abstract :
Embedded implementation of acoustic field enhancement has been devised dedicatedly for stereo headphones. Based on the analysis of the human auditory sense, this approach successfully performs the acoustic signal processing in order to widen an acoustic field generated through stereo headphones with low computational costs. Software implementation is evaluated by using an embedded DSP and an embedded RISC processor in order to confirm the practicability of the proposed approach. For both type of processors, the acoustic field enhancement is achieved dissipating about 50mW which is small enough to be used in mobile applications.
