Abstract
Magnetoelastic properties of amorphous ribbons of (Fe/sub x/Co/sub 1-x/)/sub 85/B/sub 15/ alloys were studied at room temperature by using ferromagnetic resonance techniques. Ferromagnetic resonance and antiresonance were applied with respect to different penetration depth of microwaves with the aim to distinguish the contribution of the surface layer and the bulk of magnetostriction effect. Uniaxial static elastic strain was used. Magnetostriction constants were calculated from the field shift of resonance or antiresonance curves. Measured linear magnetostriction constants were compared with the results of the biased transversal susceptibility method. Distinct differences between the surface and the bulk were found for some alloys.
