Abstract
In summary, we have analyzed the high frequency dynamics of laser diodes with short EC. We have shown that stable all-optical microwave and nearly harmonic signals are generated in low a semiconductor lasers. The laser may also exhibit strongly pulsating oscillations because of subcritical Hopf bifurcations. These stable harmonic or pulsating outputs for short EC lasers suggest new applications of laser diodes in all-optical signal handling.
