Abstract
A systematic study of the relaxation oscillations in a waveguide distributed feedback gas laser equipped with a metal waveguide of rectangular cross section is presented. Approximate formulas for weak as well as strong coupling regions relating the damping rate and frequency of the relaxation oscillations to the structure parameters for this kind of laser are derived. The influence of the gain saturation on parameters describing the relaxation oscillations is shown.
