  • Abstract
Alzheimer´s disease (AD) is an age-related and irreversible brain disorder probably due to the breakdown between nerve cell connections in the brain resulting in death of many of these cells. Amyloid plaques are one of the hallmarks of AD. Plaques are deposits of beta-amyloid-a protein fragment snipped from a larger protein called amyloid precursor protein. Using the resonant recognition model, characteristic frequencies for both beta-amyloid protein and its precursor are predicted. Also, functionally important amino acids for beta-amyloid are predicted with the wavelet technique.
