Abstract :
With rapid proliferation of internet and advancement in video streaming techniques, demand for video content over the internet is on the rise. In this era of digital transformation the end user consumption of video content, is not just limited to conventional television sets, but extends to multiple viewing platforms like laptops, mobile phones, tablets, connected TVs, gaming consoles etc. As the demand for video content increases it becomes incumbent for the technology providers to devise a robust assurance framework to ensure best viewer experience. With a paradigm shift in end user viewing patterns, the need of the hour is to devise innovative assurance solutions to cater to the changing perceptions of video quality. In this paper we present a holistic video assurance framework, which focuses on reliable and consistent last mile end user Quality of Experience (QoE). The proposed framework uses established statistical techniques to predict optimum testing time, test cycles & realistic device mix, required to validate video quality against available industry benchmarks for reliability and consistency of user experience. The proposed framework also uses automated techniques to capture, compare and report potential defects which may impact video quality consistency across multi-media platforms before it is consumed by actual end-users. The framework is found to yield highly accurate assurance levels for consistency of video content.
