Abstract :
A "high-ε dielectric-air slot" layered sandwich composite is used for fast tunable low loss phase shifters. This composite effective dielectric constant εef is controlled by a modern fast actuator that changes the width of the air slot. Using the highest quality microwave dielectrics, it is possible to realize a low loss phase shifter in the microwave and mm-wave range.
