Abstract :
In this paper we investigate the performance of multidimensional (multi-D) trellis coded modulation (TCM) and low rate convolutionally coded multicarrier (MC) code division multiple access (CDMA) schemes In a Rayleigh fading channel. In both systems, the output of the encoder modulates multiple band-limited DS-CDMA signals, which are then transmitted simultaneously at different carrier frequencies. Although low rate convolutional codes perform better than multi-D TCM, TCM systems are more bandwidth efficient for the same signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and number of carriers.
