Abstract
Increases in undergraduate enrollment require creative instructional techniques and communication methods. The Internet provides the ability to deliver information in new and unique ways. Web material may be continuously updated, providing a communication tool that can be accessed at any time from anywhere. The goal of this project is to develop and continuously update a web site that will aid in the instruction of Strength of Materials (and other large engineering courses) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). The overall site-structure consists of several levels: communication pages, theory and example pages, and online homework pages. The web site consists of nine modules, each focusing on a particular topic of Strength of Materials. These work together to provide students with a useful resource and study guide.
