Abstract
The use of technology, and more specifically the Internet, has been an important advance for distance education. In the authors´ case, they produced an electronic course book (ECB), accessible by Java-enabled web-browsers. The ECB is complementary to the written material and-at the same time-provides a means for course management. This work-in-progress describes the way in which the ECB is used, the appreciation of the ECB by students and the authors´ experience with the development of single concept modules. The early results are based upon an ECB-based course that was given last year.
