Abstract
A new formulation of the approximation procedure to generate a circularly symmetric two dimensional infinite impulse response transfer function is described. In this scheme the desired response is approximated first on the axes in the 2-D plane by a one dimensional function and then the remaining coefficients of the 2-D function are determined using an optimization technique. Other techniques to reduce the number of coefficients further are also discussed.
