Abstract :
This paper describes a system for the automatic measurement of numerous vibratory parameters of the vocal cord from high speed films. Our new system, which is an extension of our earlier work, has a much higher gray level range and spatial resolution (256 gray levels, 640×680 pixels) as compared to the previous system (8 gray levels, 90×35 pixels). We present the parameters measured for a typical normal larynx phonating a vowel and compare these parameters with the volume velocity derived by inverse filtering the same utterance by the same subject. This comparison has not been previously reported.
