Abstract :
In this paper we discuss the use of a time-weighted error criterion in recursive speech parameter estimation. We show that the ability of Kalman type estimators to track time-varying parameters is enhanced by using a time-weighted error criterion. The modification to the estimator is easy to implement and well-suited to adaptation. We demonstrate the performance of the modified estimator on both synthetic and real speech.
