Abstract :
The paper addresses the main characteristics of vision systems for blind people and the visually impaired. This characterization is based upon an analysis of human 3D world perception. Such vision systems should provide means for blind people independent and secure displacements in a ´non-cooperating´ real environment. A short overview of some existing technological assistance for blind people, of ETA, electronic travel aids is provided as well.
