  • Abstract
    In its official definition, the term "dependability" covers four notions including reliability, safety, maintainability and availability. Today, however, the trend is toward a wider acceptance of this definition, by extending the meaning of dependability more generally to a notion of risk control, be it economical, safety orientated or operational. Indeed, faced with increased operating costs, operators of complex systems (aeronautical, automobile sectors, etc.) ask manufacturers for commitments regarding life cycle cost (LCC). This is why today there is a need to describe costs in order to identify the stakes and optimize the design phases (design to cost). This work therefore presents the implementation of analysis methods used to develop and improve the modeling of life cycle costs, and in particular, the maintenance costs. Firstly, we will explain the overall structure of these models, then we will mention the analysis modes used to produce them. Finally we will highlight the difficulties in implementing such models using an example.
