Abstract :
In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for the symbol synchronization algorithm for OFDM systems using the moving subtraction method. The proposed algorithm first sets up an optimal threshold value adaptively according to existent noise power and then estimates a symbol timing with specially designed training symbols which can make the estimation performance of the algorithm be less sensitive to power delay profile variation in multipath channels. Therefore, the estimation performance of the proposed algorithm is less affected by channel characteristic change. Furthermore, the algorithm uses the moving subtraction method that is a new timing detection technique. The method can make the algorithm have better synchronization performance. As a result, the proposed algorithm can offer better symbol synchronization performance on the practical channel environments which we don´t know in advance. Finally, we show simulation results which are necessary to set up the optimal parameters of the proposed algorithm and demonstrate the algorithm´s performance.
