Abstract :
We propose a novel shared recovery scheme, which is cost efficient restoration, to satisfy diverse restoration requirements by introducing multiple classes in IP over WDM networks. First, we classify the class of restoration for a lightpath setup request at an ingress node. Then we calculate the backup route for the requested lightpath and reserve the spare resource which shares among the backup paths with different class. We also propose a sharing group (SG) concept based on the wavelength manager (WM) to efficiently manage wavelengths on each link. The diverse restoration requirements are satisfied in terms of restoration time and blocking rate according to the given three classes.
