Abstract :
We have modeled the radiation patterns and the specific absorption rate (SAR) due to two antenna types mounted on a backpack worn by a person. We have measured the antenna patterns of these antennas when worn by both a person and by a human body phantom of novel construction. We describe the phantom. We get generally good correspondence between the sets of antenna patterns. We compare the results of the sets of antenna patterns. The frequencies covered run from 450 MHz to 2.5 GHz. The SAR computations are used to evaluate the safety of the radio using these antennas.
