Abstract :
A computationally efficient pilot symbol-assisted adaptive array algorithm, which combines LS-DRMTA adaptive algorithm with LMS adaptive algorithm, is developed and applied to the pilot symbol-assisted uplink in a WCDMA system. According to the uplink frame structure of WCDMA, the spreading sequences of pilot symbols of each slot are used as the reference signals for updating the weight vectors of the adaptive antenna arrays. The computational complexity of the new algorithm is much lower than LS-DRMTA, and thus it is better suited for WCDMA systems. Furthermore, the simulation results show the new algorithm can achieve better performance than LS-DRMTA in mobile communication environments.
